The press said the other day that Biden secured the Democrat nomination for 2020 by eventually capturing the Black vote in the South. But it’s suspected he was instead given the nomination by the DNC decision makers — by their coercing Sanders to quit the primary, and by bribing Harris and Buttigieg to do same by offering them their current VP and cabinet-level jobs. Like their Republican counterpart, the DNC gets to just pick, coerce, etc. when they disagree with voters’ tendencies or poll data. At least during primaries.

Since those days in 2020, the political elite may have ended their tolerance for Trump, and the criminal and civil cases against him move forward. Seems convictions are harmless to his candidacy though, given the blind love from conservatives and conservative Christians, and predictable love from extremists like white supremacists and other nationalists. After all, he has said he could shoot someone without losing voters. Wonder if that statement taunts or humiliates his frightened conservative supporters and charms his extremists supporters. Anyway, it’s blind love or loyalty from both ends of the Republican spectrum (conservative to extremist), or maybe more so unchecked or unwarranted fear of Democrats.

Maybe the elite in the RNC will drop Trump soon, like the DNC dropped their strongest candidate (Sanders) for 2020. But Sanders had no riot-worthy militias or white supremacists or other nationalists backing him and killing a capitol police officer or threatening to hang anyone at his tacit command; Trump has all this, has commanded it so, still using and fomenting these crowds. He’s already warming them up in his primary speeches in case he loses 2024, with phrases like “…not going to let that happen” and “…you can never forget”. Republican political elite unlikely fear violence caused by him (they’re rarely in the thick of it), but do fear soiling themselves with the thuggery association and thereby losing big campaign donors. Big donors know they can get their tax breaks just as easily from a different Republican and even from a Democrat.

Again — and ironically — Trump also has Christian conservatives’ and other conservatives’ support (in addition to above-mentioned right wing extremists’) — even with his name now so associated with sex crimes, defamation, “locker room talk” about women and their anatomy, infidelity, hush money payments, witness tampering/threatening, threats to judges, intimidating and unleashing violence on county workers and capitol police, bearing false witness, and an unclear abortion stance (despite his court’s overturn). And presumably he’s at least in a veiled way spending his supporters’ money on his addictions to sore losing, defamation, litigation, and appealing court rulings. Conservatives should note all this and that now again he’s tacitly threatening to unleash violence if he loses in 2024, even though last time his talk caused violent injuries and deaths, even to his supporters.

He’s probably no more crooked than Democrats, just more thuggish. Currently his remaining primary challenger (Haley) is targeted at her own home presumably on behalf of Trump, whose deeds are laundered with his selective silence, or distancing from direct perpetrators. It’s surprising that conservatives including Christians would vote for him still. Big donors to the Republican party, however, may end their tolerance. Since convictions and tarnish can’t bar one from office or voter support, maybe in the end the RNC will step in and pick Haley and drop Trump. Maybe this is the real reason Haley still is campaigning/running: The RNC needs a plan B in case they decide conservatives, conservative Christians, and big campaign donors need or want to disassociate from extremists (nationalists, white supremacists, etc.). Maybe big donors just don’t want to soil themselves by supporting a thug party; they understand that while Republicans are no more crooked than Democrats, they are linked to, encouraging, and bringing about violence with Trump as their mascot. They and the RNC may choose to throw out the unrefined thug and restore their more refined, or at least dignified, conservative image. Haley may be their plan for this.
